I phoned Virgin Money on 16 January 2014 to obtain the settlement amount on my Virgin Money credit card and close the account. I was given the amount and told that if I wanted to settle and close the account, the settlement amount had to be paid on the same day. I asked if the account will be closed and was informed that the Account closure department will contact me within 5 working days to close the account. I paid the settlement amount at 14:42:15 on 16 January 2014. It has been 6 working days and no one has contacted me yet. So I checked my online account today to make sure that the account has been closed. Not only has it not been closed, but interest has been charged to the account!! I will most certainly not pay any costs on an account which I settled as per agreement with the bank and requested to be closed.
