Refuse to exchange

I Purchased a number of items, including 2 sets of bras. When i arrived home I found that I had taken the wrong size from the shelf. the size i wanted was on the shelf behind the one I took. I took the item back to be told that underwear is not exchanged for hygienic reasons. I understand that this will apply to items like underpants and panties, I fail to understand why a bra cannot be exchanged. The item is still on the hanger with the lables on, and was truly an honest mistake on my side. I called in to speak to a manager, who promptly advised me of the policy and the huge sign in the store. I advised the lady that other retailers like Woolwroths, Foschini, Edgars etc, do exchange bras. I was told by this lady the she finds it difficult to believe that they will exchange underwear, i was offended by her statement, as it suggests that I am being dishonest. I have been a client at Makro for many years and feel that circumstances should be considered if something like this does happen. I would not knowingly purchase an incorrect size, given signage in the store. I now have items that i am unable to wear that I cannot give to someone else. Your consideration will be appreciated.
