NON-COMPLIANCE WITH CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT

A Ryobi hedge trimmer was purchased from Makro on 19/09/2013 upon recommendation from their salespeople i.e. 'no problems/no returns on this product". On 23/10/2013 it became defective after 2nd use. Returned product to Makro on 28/10/2013 in its original packaging. Mr Howells, being the manager responsible, refused me a refund/exchange even when referred to Consumer Protection Act. He found it to be very amusing. Said that the product needs to be "assessed" while he also refused to assess it himself i.e that it is not operating. I was forced to leave the product with Makro/loose my money.

Makro, you are not complying with sect.56 of the Consumer act; you have your own "peace of mind policy" which was not part of the agreement when the product was purchased on which there was an implied warrant of quality.
I will never purchase anything from you again and will advise innocent customers to stay away from you as far as possible. Your service is bad, your prices are not competitive and your attitude towards customers stinks. And please don't leave me on of your silly messages i.e "customer services are important to us"
I am off to the Consumer Council.
