Makro
Refused Exchange on a Brand New FAULTY Product

Shops, Products, Services

We purchased a Defy convectional oven on the 30 of May from Woodmead Makro. We opened the box and from the start of using it the light inside the oven didn't work and it seemed as though the plate didn't turn once on which caused a strange ticking noise. I tried to return the product but was told that it had past the 14 day return policy and would need to be sent in to be repaired. After some research I found that the Consumer Protection act states that I am entitled to an exchange or full refund as the product is still brand new and was sold to us damaged. I called Makro today (01/07/2013) and they are now saying we need to wait for the manufacturer to get back to us about whether they will repair or exchange it. This is totally unacceptable as Makro sold us a faulty product that gave us issues from the get go and now they will not exchange it as the Consumer Protection Acts states has to be done by law. I really expected more from such a large retail store and passing the responsibility to the manufacturer is not right. The product is only 1 month old and I feel that we are entitled to exchange the product for a new one that is in working order.
