Pick 'n Pay
Cancel transaction but deduct money

Shops, Products, Services

My wife and I are regular clients of the Brackenfell Pick & Pay Hypermarket since 1980. On 26 April 2013 my wife wanted to pay an account of R1 073, 20 with her Absa debit card as usual. The system rejected the transaction although sufficient funds could be proved. The cashier tried various times and cancelled as many times. When my wife tried to draw cash for the payment she discovered that the amount of R1 073, 20 was deducted although the transaction was rejected and cancelled. Because she has an incurable back injury and suffers constant pain, an employee, Nico Assur, took pity on her and offered R720, 00 from his own pocket to complement her cash shortage owing to the R1 073, 20 that was deducted but not acknowledged.

My wife went to Absa for a ratified statement that the R1 073, 20 was deducted and handed all the documents at the Hypermarket to Barbara Dietrich who submitted copies to Tavia at 021 9884513. Barbara and Peter Johannes promised urgent attention to no avail. On 8 May Barbara ignored a promised return call and the only reaction from H/O was an automated acknowledgement of my complaint. Theresa Constable could only offer coffee but no solution on 9 May.
