R462.00 to change a battery! What a rip off!

Following my previous complaint on Helopeter, a technician was finally called out at a cost of R462.00. The first thing the technician mentioned when he arrived, was that the battery in one of the passives could be going flat causing the system to set off false alarms and also not allowing the system to reactivate. It is interesting that in my request for a technician, the only thing I was told was to make sure that I had paid the call out fee! At no stage was it suggested that I replace the battery in the zone that was troublesome! Some simple advise that would have taken one minute to do and avoided the disgusting attitude from ADT. This is what you call a money making racket! The alarm system was installed in July 2012 and because it is out of it's 6 month guarantee I had to pay a call out fee. It's obvious that the product is so poorly supported that it only offers a very short guarantee. Motor cars nowadays offer 2 to 6 year motor plans! Doesn't this say something about ADT and the products they sell? I expect ADT to refund me the R462.00 that it cost to replace the battery!
