Conned and ripped by ADT

In 2008 we were made to sign a contract by ADT consultant who promised us all good things and in 2009 our house was struck by lightning and the alarm was damaged. We contacted ADT to come and fix it but they told us to fix the alarm is going to cost us R12, 000, we told them we can't afford such amount so its best if they take out their things. To my surprise they refused and told us we signed a three year contract which we were never made aware of by their consultant who and told us we could cancel anytime. Then this year we were contacted by their attorneys who took us to court where there was a judgement aginst us. Now we are sitting with debt of more than R12, 000 and every month they charge us 15, 5% interest regardless of how much we pay. We are taking the matter to Ombudsman maybe they can help us as this is so unfair, how were we supposed to keep on paying for services that we no longer had. ADT really cons people or maybe they don't train their so called consultants.
