Multichoice has taken a decision today to suspend Subscribers who have not upgraded their DSTV Smartcard. There have been no notifications posted as to the impending termination of this service via mail posted on DSTV and the service has been summarily stopped. The Call Centre Agent advised me that my service will only be resumed if I upgrade my card. He strongly disagreed that no notifications were sent out despite the fact that these messages stopped at the end of December. Great Customer Service. Call Reference:132442642.

The reason I have not upgraded my Smartcard is that I was advised at the time by the Multichoice Technical Team that changing my card would result in me very possibly loosing all of my recordings on my PVR. How do you provide clients a recordable PVR with no option to transfer recordings and then tell a client that, tough luck, you will loose whatever you have recorded!

So now I am without DSTV and Multichoice have graciously deducted my monthly premium and will continue to do so knowing that they have unilaterally removed my right to access. This is a breach of contract and completely unacceptable customer service. This is corporate arrogance at its worst!
