I was hospitalised for 1 day. Before I was admitted, I had to pay R2850 upfront to the hospital.

Afterwards I scrutinized my policy, and I quote from Discovery: "We pay the first R2 850 of your hospital account from your available day-to-day benefits, as long as you have money available. The balance of the hospital account and the related accounts are paid from your Hospital Benefit". I am aware that I did not have enough funds available in my medical saving, but I am still not responsible for paying the amount in full. I phoned Discovery and admitted to making a mistake and that I should send them the proof of payment. They also said that they will then pay the difference back into my medical savings account. To date three emails were sent and numerous phone calls were made to the call center where I am only put on hold or waiting for them to return my call. I am still waiting for this situation to be resolved.
