What is really happening with that claim?

On 17 Jan I sent my Medical Gap claim with all supporting documents, and received an automated response. The response advised that I would be contacted within 2 days and they might request further documentation. After not receiving the contact on 24 Jan I called at 08:30 and was told the lady working on my claim was not in yet and she will call me. No call received so I called again after lunch and was trf to said lady. She advised me that she was on leave at the time that my claim was sent, but will confirm receipt of my claim and refer for assesment that will take 10 working days. An hour later I receive an e-mail advising that my claim was now received (only a week after I actually sent it) and will take 20 working days to??? After I was just told 10 days??? Who really knows what is happening with it and what would have happened if I hadn`t called. No, really this is not how you should treat your clients.
