Unpaid outpatient fees

On friday the 17th of January i received a call from lawyers advising me that i am owing the Crompton Life Hospital an amount of R500 because bankmed did not pay the hospital fees and that was an incident that occured in June 2012 when i took my son into the hospital's casualty, and this is not the first time that bankmed is not paying medical institutions, in 2009 when i was pregnant they did not pay the fees for the tests and when this happen i am not notified because they don't send any statement. I want to know why did they not pay the fees because the hospital confirmed funds availability before i could consult the doctor.
