Berkowitz Shnier Van Niekerk And Associates Inc
Lawyers team with medical pracs to make MORE money

Health & Medicine

In 11/2012 I had surgery at Morningside Clinic for a broken ankle. Wouldn't discharge me until I saw a physiotherapist who gave me a bunch of stuff, eg a cast boot and cast cover. These items remained unused. On 21/6/2013 I received a threatening sms from Grobler Rutsch Attorneys (GRA), demanding payment - for not paying my account with Berkowitz Shnier & Van Niekerk - R1928.24 (physiotherapist). I have NEVER received an account from them. I returned all the unused items, and informed/emailed GRA on 24/6/2013. On 9/01/2014 I got a summons from GRA-same account. I called and told them there was no outstanding amount, and on 14/01 was told I owe R3118.62 in lawyers fees, and was threatened with ITC blacklisting if I don't pay. GRA are unethical - how can they issue a summons 7 months after they had email confirmation of no outstanding amount? And how unscrupulous that they expect me to pay lawyers fees for issuing a summons. If anything, BS&VN are also unethical &liable for legal fees-I never received a statement was never told by the physiotherapist that there were extra costs for the items. Medical practitioners now working with lawyers to make sure THEY make more money. HPCSA?
