Turned a Family Holiday into a nightmare

Health & Medicine

I booked my family of four, wife 2 children, at The Portswood Hotel in Cape Town in two rooms (315 317) for a brief family vacation to Cape Town from 28 Dec to 2 Jan.

After receiving the keys to the rooms on 28-12-13, I could not open the doors to either of the rooms with the key cards issued. Replacement key cards were issued.

We went out for an early dinner & when returned to the hotel we could not access either of our rooms. We had to wait in the passage way for 10 minutes to get someone to open the doors. A maintenance staff was sent to check the locks & he to me that there was a problem with the door mechanism & he now fixed it. The next morning after breakfast, we could not access the rooms yet again with the new key cards.

We were issued new key cards & after returning to the hotel after 17h00, yet again we could not access our room. I had to wait in the passage way whilst my wife went to get a staff to assist us (I cannot walk much following a leg injury therefore this makes it all the more frustrating to have to send my wife to the lobby all the time).

Over R26000 PAID but I cannot access the rooms I am paying for? DON'T EVER BOOK AT THIS HOTEL.
