I booked two rooms at Fordoun a few days ago - my first time at the hotel. The rooms I had booked were not what I had hoped for so I asked if we could move to other rooms. I had booked Lake View rooms which were nice but a little too "country" for me.

Without any discussion, I was offered two of the new suites - which were lovely - and at no extra charge.

But it was not the nice rooms that made our stay a pleasure - it was the absolutely outstanding attitude of every staff memebr we encountered - from the reception staff who took the booking to the gentleman who came out to greet us in the parking lot when we arrived (I forget his name - but am told he has worked there for over 50 years) to the golf cart drivers who fetched and carried us everywhere because it was raining to the restaurant staff who arranged a birthday cake for one of our party - and then sang happy birthday to her.

Well done for providing first world service in a small country town.
