I have been a GEMS member since 2006 one of first to join them with membership nr. 772.
Everything was all good at the beginning. They have halved optical benefits making it impossible for me to get two (2) year supply of contact lenses. Three (3) visits to physio and its all exhausted. Mind you those are the only benefits most important to me and they cannot even render those services to me. i am not even going to mention all the other disappointing incidence So why must I pay R1400 every month. I am a fairly healthy person and I can pay consultations cash. I will rather open a hospital plan and do without employer's contribution and save a R600 still. The way we are forced to join GEMS in order to get a contribution from the employer is not fair.
