I was admitted on the 14th of August 2013 for a neck operation. After the operation lying in intensive care, I found incompetent staff looking after me. No clue how move or care for a neck operation patient, could not understand me and my bed did not have the unit which adjusts the bed and has the emergency button. I was fortunate that my visitor arranged for blankets, I was freezing, then for a few hours insisted that they fit this bed remote before they leave. Without this I had no way of calling for help or adjusting the angle of my bed. In normal care the service was even worse, your IV could stop working, bell ringing, you could push your own emergency care button and if you were lucky someone would come an hour later. Some of the trainee nurses, did not know how to handle an IV properly, connecting pipes up wrongly and I got used to hearing " eish, I am sorry". I saw patients next to me, ringing bells for an hour after they started cleaning his wounds and forgot about him. I had to ask 3 people and wait 2 hours for water, only to be told, eish there are no glasses. 3 hours later I drank water from a pill measuring device! I was shocked at the lack of care and their attitude!
