I was booked for an ankle operation for 05 July 2013. I was told to be there at 6 am for an operation at 8 am. We got there 05h45. We filled in some remainder documents needed, and were referred to section 5. When we get there, I was put into a private ward as they had no spare beds. The wards at a government hospital looked better. The bath was dirty, walls needed painting, TV remote was not working. So operation only happened at 12h30-13h00.
During this I saw the doctor before the operation for 5 seconds and again in the theater. Never saw him after the op. Fine.
But with the hospital, there was on hospital doctor checking up on patients. There nurses has to be called when I needed help. No one came to check up on me at all. On the Saturday, i struggled to get help to get discharged. I rang the bell for help, eventually I had to cancel the bell as no one came. No one showed me how to walk with the crutches, No one told me anything. Eventually after insisting they call the doctor many times, at 11am I get told I can go home and get the medication set by the doctor. I had to call the doctors office today to see what needed to happen with the bandages, when to change them and so on
