Faulty Device

Electronics and household app.
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 GT-P5100 in March 2013 from a Samsung store and 3 months later I found myself taking it in for repairs because it would not charge. After chasing TM Electronics (another grievance) I find out that the power board needs to be replaced.
How can Samsung provide faulty devices - I can understand if the power board gave up on a device after maybe about a year, but when I have had it for 3 months it must be a poorly constructed device to begin with.
Keeping that in mind, I want to know why I have to be inconvenience for so long (it has been almost 3 weeks) without the device - surely a fault like this is a major one and should warrant a replacement device. I cannot wait much longer for the device to be handed back fixed (which will remain to be seen) as I am unable to work properly without it.
