On the 23 of October 2013 I called Van Schaik head office to lay a complaint with regards to the poor service. I spoke to a lady named Margret and proceeded to lay my complaint.
While explaining the situation to her she interrupted me numerous times stating it is not her responsibility to ensure that I receive the correct books it is the responsibility of the student. I told her I do understand that but I feel I went to the store and expected the store assistants to be knowledgeable and to help me ensure that I have the correct study material. She asked me when I purchased the book I said a month and a half ago and I have been studying from the book and only with my final preparations realized i had the wrong addition of the book. She started laughing and told me 'it was ridiculous that I only realized it now ". Throughout the conversation she made comments like "she can't help that I am illiterate", "she would expect a Third year student to be more literate" ect. I do not understand how someone like Margret is working in the marketing department and interacting with customers. I am sure this is not the first time she treated a customer in such a manner.
