Big company, big -up

Computers & Services

One would assume that if you buy a HP product that you are buying quality, good support and good aftersales service. I mean, the name has a reputation... or so I thought. I had two broken HP printers, one a photosmart c7100 and the other a year old A8500 a910. The last was only a year old when it died so it was just outside the warranty period.
The C7100 could not be fixed as it's not supported any longer. In other words HP will sell you cartridges for a unit they longer supply parts for! The other printer, they told me, had a dead power supply. I had to buy a new one. Got to the office, plugged in... dead. It turns out when the unit crashes, you have to leave it of for 10mins, or so, to reset and switch back on. I had to figure that out myself. Its working but f%#$$ know for how long before it crashes again.
The other problem in this whole frustrating adventure is the company they use to service their products in Cape Town. They are called Ensure, and without exaggerating, the service and attitude of the people is like something out of a bad-service horror movie.
