Bought a Seagate external hard drive in Feb'13.
The power supply went unserviceable in April'13. Returned the product to the branch to be exchanged/repaired under warranty. After a runaround i was told that the power supply is not covered by the warranty, and that I should buy the Ellies power supply in store. The Ellies supply unit does not fit the hard drive. They then gave me the number for a company that should be able to help me. This company did not know what I was talking about. I phoned Makro again. After the phone was put down on me twice, Renier eventually assisted me. He advised that all they can do is give me the name of the supplier. I received friendly assistance from the now correct supplier but will need to pay them a visit in Limbro Park to have the unit checked and probably buy a new unit.
When I bought the unit it was advertised as being covered by a warranty. This now appears not to be the case and the ensuing runaround by Makro staff is not acceptable. I at least expect of them to offer to send the unit to the supplier for repair/replacement even if at my cost. Also not quite sure if the warranty issue falls within the consumer protection act?
