Hewlett Packard
No HP Free 3 Year Warranty after 18 months

Computers & Services

In June 2012 we bought a beautiful multifunctional HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus All-in-One Printer - A910g for a home business for R2250 at a technology store. On the printer box it stated Free 3 year warranty, just register your product. 1 of the steps setting up the device includes registering the product on the HP website. We did not have a HP account at that stage so we created a new HP account and added the product to the profile as requested. We scanned, printed and made copies for a whole 18 months with no problem.
In December 2013 while copying and scanning the systems threw an error, [Scanner Failure: Unable to scan, copy or send a fax. Turn the power off and on and then try again.] Switching off and on did not solve the problem. We then decided to put the 3 year warranty to the test. On the HP website you can enter the device s/n and then the system displays the warranty status, the system replied that the device warranty expired in October 2012. HP Support referred us to HP UK for assistance with the warranty. SPL (Service Parts Logistics) today informed us "Unfortunately this part is no longer available through HP" So how are HP going to honor the 3 year warranty?
