On 10/10/2011 a customer bought an HP printer from our store specifically because it has a 3-year warranty. Now, just over a year later, there is a problem with the printer but Hewlett Packard refuses to honour the warranty on the grounds that it was never registered online.

I find this utterly childish and completely unacceptable.

Firstly, the sticker on the printer clearly states that there is a 3-year warranty
Secondly, in tiny print at the bottom, it says: "Register at [URL Removed] - it does NOT specify that the warranty depends on this.
Thirdly, as a reseller, based on this, I am now extremely hesitant to recommend HP to anyone - Canon and Epson are very good printers at reasonable prices.

Lastly, the service from HP is atrocious. I was kicked around 6 times, every time ending with someone who told me that I was dealing with the wrong department, phone such-and-such a number instead. The last straw was a man named Luluma who refused to let me speak to his manager.

So to all my friends and customers: Think twice before buying HP printers.
