Billing for hails damage that never occured

Hire period 27/11/2013-27/12/2013.The car hired was inspected and there was a bit of damage in it. However, the roof of the vehicle was not inspected by myself or/and by the avis employee. The employee told me that I should not worry about the roof.

Avis is now claiming that I am liable for hail damage on the car, when infact I have never been exposed to hail over that period. I live and work in midrand, the car is undercover at all times, and I do not recall driving in hail over the period that I had the vehicle.

When I returned the vehicle, no inspection was done in my presence, Moreover, the way the vehicle was inspected when I collected it was not the same criteria used when I returned the (a bird's eye view was used upon collection and a more human, close up approach was used.),

Avis have already debited my credit card even though I had expressed to them that I would like to query the claim. I have tried in vein to get in contact with the person responsible for claims to no avail.

I am never going to do business with Avis as they have been and are continuing to rip off people with their flawed inspection mechanism.
