On sunday nov 24 at 3am in the morning my drivers had to collect a rental car at the airport in Bloemfontein as our courier van had broken down. On arrival they had to procede to the office to sign paperwork and receive keys. They were told to collect the vehicle in parking bay 8 which they did. Bear in mind that visibility at 3 am in the morning is nil. The rental was not pre arranged as this was a crisis situation. On returning the vehicle to Lanseria on Monday the 25th November we were told that our R1500 deposit will be kept as there are scratches on the vehicle. One was underneath the bumper. No pre inspection was performed by europcar employees at Bloemfontein. Since when has it become the clients responsibility to do other peoples work?
We have hired vehicles before through Avis and they are absolutely wonderful. Europcar NEVER AGAIN. Now They want to hold us liable for the pre existing damages. Wonder how many people they do this to. My manager then went to Europcar Lanseria on Monday afternoon and asked a staff member for a pre inspection sheet on a random vehicle in the lot. He pointed out 3 scratches and dents that were not anywhere to be found on the inspection chart.
