Price you see, Price you pay?

I ordered pizza under the assumption that prices inc vat. Low & behold when quoted the price I suddenly realised that the prices advertised on the menu nor the signs in the shop advertised inc vat. There is also no mention either with quote " prices excl / inc vat ". Is this not misleading the customer. I personally feel that this is false advertising & therefore misleading the customer. Surely you are damaging your relationships with the customers. I know they have with mine. Previously having worked in the retail industry this is an appalling example of customer service & I don't think this will be the only complaint of this nature against this company. Is this not against the consumer protection act?
