Firstly, Jackie at Westgate branch failed to notify me that I need to fill in a debit order switching form when I changed from a savings to cheque account. Meaning I had to do this myself. After she sold this account to me, whilst I was perfectly happy with the account I had. I thought it sounded like a better idea to change over to a cheque account and she assured me that all my debit orders would be switched and that it was a cheaper banking option. Then when I went to collect the card, the teller said that it was possible to link my old savings account, which I still want to use, to my new cheque account. But this was not the case. I had to stand at Checkers with a red face because my card got declined. When I phoned Standard bank customer care to find out why there was insufficient funds showing at the atm, and at the till, the lady (Sasha) informed me that these two accounts could not be linked, and I will have to go the the bank once again to collect a new card so that I can use the cash in my savings account! Really, I do not think this is good service. And I hope that none of my debit orders bounce because of this brilliant new account. I wish I had gone to FNB as Ive been contemplating.
