Switching from Savings to Cheque acc = Headaches

About 2 weeks ago I decided to change from a savings account to a cheque account.
I had a list of questions which I asked the consultant and based on the answers I got made my decission.
One question was about the transfering of my debit orders, and the consultant replied confidently that is no problem.
So when I got my cheque card I had to proceed with the transfer of debit orders and close my old savings account.
And the first head ache appeared. 2 of the 3 debit orders couldn't be transfered because it's not listed on your system. So the bank's work become mine and I had to inform these 2 of the 3 companies.
Then I had to close the savings account. I noticed that I was charged for cancelation of stop orders, which again the consultant promised to "waive".
So finally I decided today to get the savings account closed, but did a check first on internet banking of any transactions I would like to query before closing the account to discover the 1 of the 3 "sucsesfull" carried over debit order went of still on the savings on not the cheque account.
I went into the bank and had to wait. After 45 minutes I got irritated and decided to leave and maybe try a quiter branch.
