I recently upgraded from a savings account to a 'prestige' cheque account but the whole experience has been a nightmare. 1) the first time I tried to upgrade I as told I would be notified when my new card was ready for collection. I received no notification and was subsequently informed that the account had been closed because I hadn't collected the card. 2) For some reason Std bank can't switch all my debit orders to the new account (including one that is actually paid to a Std bank loan account) which means that the debit orders are still coming off my old account, but there is no money in it as my salary is being paid into my new account, and I am therefore in arrears on a number of other accounts despite having the money set aside to pay. 3) the consultant insisted that while issuing the new debit card, a new credit card should also be issued. Except that the new card has the same expiry date as the old one - so after making the effort to go to the branch to collect my new card, I now have a new card that is valid for less than two months, and have already been notified that I should come in to collect a new one.
Run out of space but i have had a few more issues doing this
