Miscommunication of information

I took out 2 policies in 2010 and have been paying premuims monthly without a hitch. To my understanding, the policy will cover your stay in hospital only if you stay for 3 days and more. 2 days ago, I find out that days 1 and 2 are not covered, only day 3 onwards is covered, and if i cancel, I get no refund. It is totally unacceptable that due to their miscommunication, they keep my hard earned money stating I do not get a refund. I am not willing to accept that. Clientele is an organization that makes a living of innocent people's hard earned income and that is totally dismaying and that they will not refund me considering that in the 2 plus years of having the policies, I have not claimed from the policies.
Will hand to Consumer Protection.
