My mom, a pensioner, has been paying for 5x different insurance policies for years, and they were sold to her under different 'headings', but basically they are all the same. In other words, she has been paying for 5x Accidental Death policies. My Dad can no longer work due to his age and ill health, he is 79, and when I looked at the policies discovered that Nedbank Insurance Brokers had unethically sold her 5x Accidental Death policies under various headings and that my parents could not claim against any policies. I spoke to a Call Centre Agent who told me that when my mom's ID number is typed in she could see all the policies that has been sold to her. My question is, why on earth would Nedbank Insurance Brokers continously call my mom and convince her that she should take out a further "accidental life" policy? If this is just one story I would hate to imagine how many other pensioners have been targeted who are not knowledgeable about insurances and have been paying for years for nothing. I was also informed that should my mom cancel her policies, she will lose all the money that she has paid - some she has been paying since 1998!!! Totally unacceptable and unethical!
