Worse nightmare and Non disclosure

Business & Finance

On7thf February someone reversed into my car damaging the front part of the vehicle. I then contacted SAU and spoke to Alvin who requested I send certain information to be able to process the claim. 2 weeks later the assessor eventually came. He then told me the insurance will be in contact with me. On that week I received a call from Alvin that they had received the report. Since Monday this week I've been trying to get hold of this Alvin. Yesterday I called, to my surprise, the claim was conveniently rejected, apparently it falls within excess of R13000.00 and to fix the car will cost the same amount, what a Coincidence! One of the reasons for rejection, is the penalty of having code 10 license andnot code 8. That penalty is R5000.00.I have never received any documents in relation to this until yesterday when I was told about the updated schedule. Why did they wait until the claim to tell me about these excesses? Where is the schedule or contract I was suppose to receive before I had an accident? I was told about 3.5% of sum insured minimum R2000 and the rest was referred to as 'Other''. What does this 'Other' mean or do you have to be in accident or loose your car to find out?
