On 31 December I noticed a suspect credit card transaction on my account. Turns out to be. I firstly googled for HOURS and could not find the ABSA "Dispute" department. After reaching them, and giving all the details, they eventually sms'ed me back stating "Please contact the merchant yourself, in order for them to credit your account." Firstly, I don't even know who the merchant is exactly, the only thing I had to go on was the description on my statement "5ROOMS". Today, I tried to lodge a complaint at ABSA, so I phoned the 0800 41 41 41, complaints line. Which just kept ringing, with no answer. Goodness, am I mistaken, or is this REALLY bad service. I spoke to friends at other banks, who had similar situations, where their banks sorted everything out for them. Do I seriously need to google the description on my statement to try to find out who the merchant is? Don't they have a system to look that info up? If I didn't have a home loan, I would have closed all my accounts today. For now, I'm just going to close my credit card account, as soon as this whole thing is over.
