On the 27th of November 2013 I received an unsolicited call from a Discovery Insure consultant who subsequently gave me a quote for car insurance. The quoted premium was lower than my current premium so I asked for documentation so as to read the fine print. I specifically asked her not to activate the policy before she got an indication from me. Long story short, I had to cancel a policy I never took up on the 29th of November. After speaking to two consultants later a premium was deducted on the 3rd of January. Another two consultants later I have received a cancellation notification today, 13 January 2014. The only time the insurer contacted me was to me then the cancellation department to find out why I had "cancelled" the policy. After the call from the initial I spoke to four different consultants, three of those I initiated contact. I received no feedback whatsoever, no reference numbers for my calls. The company has not bothered to take a minute to contact me, acknowledge the appalling behaviour and apologise. I am grateful for Thabiso Mhlangu who escalated the matter and profusely apologised on behalf of the Discovery. Waiting for my refund.
