Insurance claim not processed

I opened a claim for roof damages at home about a month ago but they said they will not process it because I had already started to fix the problem myself. I was told to submit a report from the guy who was doing some work on my roof however he couldn't do a report for me because he of his education levels. Our health is at risk because my ceiling and walls have black stains and it is getting worse everyday
