Standard Bank
Insurance and home loan account

Business & Finance

I bought a house three years ago. The house has an extra room build on to it. The house has a tile roof and this room a tin roof. Unfortunately this room did not have a ceiling. I decided to put in a knotty pine ceiling worth - R4000.00. When the first rain came, the roof leaked and damaged the ceiling. I phoned Standard Bank Insurance to fix the roof and ceiling. The claim was declined with the reason bad workmanship. I did not build that roof and I was never warned about any leaks. I met the Newcastle branch manager at a private function. I explained my situation as well as a crack in one of the walls. He came to my house the Monday after that and assisted me with another insurance claim which was declined again. I then made extra payments monthly to build up some extra money. on the 18th of April 2013 I applied to have access to this account so that I can use the extra money to do the repairs myself. On the 29th of May I went back to the bank because I had no answer as yet. I had to re-apply and was told that I will get an answer within 48hours. I did not and went to the bank again today 11 June. Now I'm told that it is on hold and I need to re-apply again...???
