With much trouble and frustration, I was able to get through to Standard Bank Homeowners' claims. It was for storm damage and I imagined the claims department would be busy but also expected SBSA to extend their hours like the other insurance companies are doing. SBSA only open weekdays from 8-5pm?? Others (like ABSA) even let you get your own contractors. The assessors came out but thereafter I have not received any feedback even though I told them the claims are urgent. With rain the damages are increasing and with my security measures damaged my family and house is at risk! Despite me phoning around (bank, assessors, third-party companies the bank uses, etc.) and spending hours and hours on my phone, emailing parties I am not getting anywhere. I don't know how many layers are there to settle a claim and how busy you are but at least you can have the courtesy in coming back to me. I even tried to get Private Banking involved but usual they just defer my query to some other faceless department and the customer must work out who is who in the Standard Bank Zoo! Please tell me what is the service differentiator between this 'Private' banking and the other segments service channels?
