I want my account closed

I recently went to the nedbank branch in Sunnypark to attempt to close my cheque account as I was no longer using it and it was incurring unnecessary charges monthly. Th guy who was at enquiries told me that in their branch they can't assist me cause its not a cash branch and they would need to give me the money left in my account. I told him that there was R6 left and I don't want it. I just wanted to close the account. He said I must go to another branch. I told him that I live and work in Sunnyside. I work from 8-6 daily by that time their branches are closed and I didn't want to incur any further charges. He did not help me with this and told me there was nothing he could do. Yesterday I received an sms to say my account is overdrawn and I must fix it. How the am I supposed to keep paying for an account I don't ever use and u don't want to close. This is ridiculous.
