Withdrawal not being refunded

I'm so not happy with the service from FNB . Here's the scenario:
I was withdrawing at Boulders Mall FNB ATM next to the bank on the 25th August 2013 around past 11am. My card got swallowed by the ATM, and waited there for about 20 to 30 minutes without any luck. I didn't have phone with me to cancel the card. I then went to internet banking to check, that's when I saw that my money was deducting. I had to borrow a phone just to cancel the card, that was the time I cancelled the card.
The following day which was Monday the 26th August, I went to the bank in Roodepoort to open a case and they said is gonna take 3 to 4 weeks to investigate. I stayed for more than a month without any feedback or update until the 1st October when I decided to follow up. After me calling, that's when I got a feedback that they will not refund me as the card was cancelled prior to the transactions being made.

My Concern is that, how is my fault and responsibility that my money was taken. Now I ran out of budget because of FNB not being safe. It clearly means our money is not safe with FNB.

I'm helpless, I don't know what to do to regain the money I lost.
