Bad attitude of call centre

I am very unhappy with your service. I email your office on the 10th of September asking to cancel my policy with Virgin Insurance. I received a read receipt, but no reply to my email. Today when I called, the call centre staff told me that you have a backlog on emails.
He then offered to help me on the phone, took my details and put me on hold for a few minutes without informing me. I was then transferred to a very unfriendly lady who was more interested in where I am getting a better insurance deal and asked me all sorts of personal questions regarding my new cover (which I feel is very unprofessional). I told her I am phoning to ensure that my insurance policy is cancelled and that the debit order on the 15th does not go through at my bank. She could not answer my questions and argued about when this can be cancelled and that I should pay another month.
I asked her to be put through to someone more senior and she refused. This is shocking to get such bad service. She also refused that a senior person can call me back.
So please assist me through this platform to ensure my policy is cancelled and my debit order does not go through on the 15th...
