Policy cancelled before it started

On 27 Aug I received a call from your call centre and was offered a good deal on vehicle insurance. I took up the policy. I then phoned my current insurer to cancel my policy and they proceded to match FNB's offer. I decided to stay with my current insurer as I have been with them for 3 years. I immediately sent an email to FNB to cancel the policy. On the morning of 28 Aug the FNB Call Centre phoned and I cancelled the policy and received a confirmation letter via email.

At 13:14 I received an sms stating that a debit order will go off my account for this policy within the next few days. I then called the Call Centre and was told that they cannot do anything to stop the debit order. I have to go into the bank to have it stopped or let the debit go off and wait for a refund.

Seriously FNB? How can I pay for something that was cancelled before it was supposed to start (1 Sept) and why is there nothing you can do?

Isn't your catch phrase: "How can we help you"?

Why can't you help me?
