I closed my credit card account more than a month ago. On 6 August 2013 I got a statement with an amount due. I sent an email to the call center on the same day and got an immediate auto reply stating that they apologise for the delay. After receiving no response I called the call center on 12 August, only to have the call disconnected. I tried a few times and the same happened. After trying intermittently on 13 August for about an hour, I finally got through to someone and was told that my statements will be stopped and the amount due will be written off. This is one of the reason I'm cutting all ties with ABSA. They're not customer focused at all. I'm delighted to have moved to FNB where the benefits are much greater and the service is more efficient.
