Funeral policy never paid out

I took funeral policies in 2011 as i was also an employee of old mutual, then 2012 September i got unemployed i then visited the Midrand client service to surender my investment policies, change the stop order to debit order and to put a holiday period (spending 6 months without paying while covered fully) to my funeral policies for 6 months. then the pay out for my investments happened and up until when my aunt whom i had a policy for past away in January 2013 and i went to claim then i was told that my funeral policies have lapsed. a week ago i got a call from old mutual telling me that i can re-insteit my policies and now my problem is what about their trust, and what about the funeral policy which was never paid out? as clients we cant keep on paying premiums while the is no benefit, an i had to go loan money while i had a funeral policy for my aunt... please act upon this matter!
