I have been trying to claim from my funeral cover as from 12/06/2013 and everytime I query at the bank I am told that my file has been closed without any substantial reason. When my uncle died on 07/06/13 I registered his death at home affairs and it was discovered that someone had changed his surname to a Mdhluli while his ID reflect that he is a Ngcobo (copies of his ID reflecting the correct surname was sent to Standard Bank with the claim). Also Home Affairs wrote a letter which was sent also to Standard bank to confirm that he is Moses Joseph Ngcobo not Mdluli and they are going to investigate. I opened a case and have a case number for that. Also wrote affidavits. Standard Bank has since not paid the claim up till today and there is no feedback as to why. I had to bury my uncle with my own funds on 16/06/13 because Standard bank did not pay on my claim. I have been a loyal customer from 1991 and It is very sad that I have been paying this funeral cover from 2002 for my uncle and when I put through a claim, I get such a careless attitude from Standard Bank during my time of bereavement. It is a shame on you Standard Bank!!
