I called the Standard Bank call centre a few times over the past few days to find out about an account I thought was closed. Although the call centre agent was friendly, they apparently all have different information with regards to closing accounts. Both Sia and Joseph told me that I would receive a paid up letter the following day (via e-mail). Joseph even assured me that it was in the queue for sending and that I would receive it that day! When I didn't receive any letter, I called again. The third call centre agent told me that it would take 7 to 9 working day!?!? If I have to wait 7 to 9 working days for someone to simply check and close the account, then so be it. But at least get everyone at the call centre the correct information.
