Standard Bank
Discrimination

Business & Finance

The bank had approve 100% bond based on my income and credit status, but on signing for the bond i had to add my husband as am married, only for the bank to reduce the amount to 75% because my husband is a foreigner who does not have permanent residency even though he has a valid permit to reside in the country and we have have 2 children, so now because i can't raise 25% does it mean my children cannot have a home just because their father is a foreigner even though i am a South African citizen!!! the bank approved the 100% clearly because i can afford the repayment so why the change now? we had even paid the attorneys fees and when they refund the money it will no longer be complete as they will deduct admin fees, so am at a double loss :(

I do not quite understand this policy or stance by Standard Bank. If the Bank could initially approve 100 percent bond what has made the difference? Am I being discriminated against because I, a South African citizen is married to a foreigner? I thought that it would be important to support a South African citizen who is able to make the necessary repayment with purchasing a home of their dream. Definitely not moving forward.
