Premiums Hiked by more than 50% within 5 months

My insurance policy was hiked 3 times within 5 months. I was paying R1148 in January, R1202 in February, R1473 in April and now I am paying R1725. That is more than 50% increase. Can somebody explain this to me? Why am I being ripped off?
