Liberty Life
Staff misleading customers on policies

Business & Finance

I refer to a claim dated 20 May 2013 in which it was explained that the claim has been declined. I must however emphasise my disappointment at the less than satisfactory way in which my claim has been handled. The decision was based on information that had not been disclosed to me and thus, I was misled to believe the said information. This, in my view, is tantamount to a misrepresentation.the person that sold me the policy, informed me that the retrenchment benefit which I had opted for would be payable if the policy has been in force for at least a month. On the 31 March 2013, approximately 3 months after taking out the policy, I was retrenched after 17 years at the same company. I was subsequently informed that the claim had been declined as the retrenchment benefit had to be in force at least 6 months at the date of retrenchment, contrary to what I was advised. A family member then contacted a liberty call centre agent (i have a recording), and enquired about the terms of the policy, the agent too advised same that the benefit would be payable after 1 month. I have to question the integrity of Liberty as well as any of its agents.
