My mom passed away on 29 June 2013. She had a policy with Liberty that she paid into for over 16 years. She paid in excess of R10000 for a benefit of R5000. I sent copies of my mom's death certificate and completed claim form to Liberty as requested. They refused to pay out as they still had my late dad as the beneficiary - they paid out his policy after he passed away in February 1998. The documents replying to a request about a change of beneficiary were mistakenly sent to a Liberty email address that is not read! To make matters worse they are still expecting premiums to be paid on this policy! I received a letter from their credit department today informing me that her premiums are in arrears. Perhaps a sample of my mother's ashes would prove she is dead!
