Passing the buck: Repudiating a claim

I attended a party on 30th December 2012. To cut a long story short, my car key got. It took the Insurance company 2 months, subject to investigation, to repudiate my claim! Why would I make a case against someone, if I were not sure of the facts? To date I have not even received written communication with regards to this, which in itself is shocking!
